Ellensburg Softball goes to World Series

Jan 2, 2018 4:33 PM

12U Girls head to Florida for the Babe Ruth World Series.

It was three years in the making when the Ellensburg 12U Girls Softball team won the 2017 Regional Championship game and earned a bid to the Babe Ruth World Series in Jensen Beach, Florida. This wasn't the first time this team had earned the chance to go to The World Series. In 2015 they were unable to travel due to lack of resources. The following year they came up short with a 2nd place finish, but that didn't stop them. For seven of the girls, this was their last chance to complete thier goal and they wanted to end accomplishing that goal.

Inspirtation: The girls regulary looked at the banners of the only other team in Ellensburg Youth Baseball and Softball history to get a chance to play in the Wolrd Series (2008). The banners are proudly displayed in the Crows Nest at the Ellensburg home fields. The girls always looked up to the 2008 team, hoping one day it would be them to get the chance to make their league proud. Now, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the coaches, players and families of the 2017 12U Girls Softball team, more young girls can be inspired to take their dreams the distance.
